Toka Tū Ake EQC secures record reinsurance contract, enters cat bond market

New Zealand-based insurer Toka Tū Ake EQC has secured NZ$8.2bn ($4.91bn) in reinsurance, up from NZ$7.4bn last year, for New Zealand homeowners.

The insurer’s reinsurance programme now includes cat bonds for the first time, which it said it did to “expand and diversify its sources for risk capital”.
